THE FOLKSINGERS - A Novel

"The Folksingers" is Jerry Gallagher's First Published Novel and Third Published Book.  Jerry began writing "The Folksingers" following his own hitchiking journey and personal musical experience attending the Newport Folk Festival in 1963.  Jerry is quick to point out, however, that the hero of his Novel, Jeff McCarthy had a far more interesting journey than Jerry's own was. Jerry also wishes to point out to the reader that it took almost a Decade to complete the Novel's original Manuscript because he was using that most ancient of instruments, a typewriter.

The Folksingers

On a July morning in 1963 Jeff McCarthy leaves his dorm room at Prince College in Coaltown, Pennsylvania, where he is taking Summer Courses and sets out on a hitchiking trip to Newport, Rhode Island, where he will be a part of a historic musical event, the 1963 Newport Folk Music Festival.

On his Journey Jeff will meet up with a cast of offbeat characters who will share in his adventure.  He will meet and interact with Folksingers and Music Lovers from everywhere who have all come to Newport to share a unique Musical Experience.

The Newport Folk Music Festival of 1963 provides an interesting musical backdrop for this Novel.  Newport 63 brought together the Folk Music Stars of an era including Pete Seeger, Peter Paul and Mary, Joan Baez and Bob Dylan and many others for a musical experience that would never be forgotten by anyone attending the event.

In this Novel joining Jeff McCarthy on his Newport Adventures are Janice Clayton, a well known Female Folk performer with a disturbing secret, Harold Wilde, a singer and Playwright from New York City with Dark Secrets of his own, Folk Music Session Guitarist, Chuck Banner and Wild Boston Debutante, Mandy Thorpe. Newport will turn out to be an Important Musical and Life Experience for all of the Characters in "The Folksingers."

The Triumph Of Barack Obama:            More Letters To A Lost Nation

During 2008 a First Term Senator from Illinois shook the Democratic and Republican Establishments and the World when he ran for the Presidency of The United States and Won. "The Triumph Of Barack Obama: More Letters To A Lost Nation"is the story of that Historic Political Victory told from the point of view of an Average American who followed the Political Race largely from Media News Coverage of the Campaigns of those Candidates involved in the 2008 Presidential Race including Hillary Clinton, John McCain and others

This book is mainly a collection of postings from my Blog begun in January of 2008 called "Letters To A Lost Nation."  At the time I began my Blog I was only interested in Commenting about the 2008 Presidential Race.

When I began writing my Blog I started out trying to be Responsible and Unbiased on my commentary as I wrote about the 2008 Presidential Race. Clearly in the end my "Liberal" and/or "Progressive" biases have come out quite clearly in this book and I do not apologize for that.

We do, after all, live in the United States of America where Freedom of the Press is Guaranteed.  The truth is that I do believe that overall I have been Responsible in my writing about this story.  Although Initially I never really thought about writing this story as a book, once the 2008 Election was over and I realized the Historical Impact of this Election, I did begin thinking about telling this story in Book Form.  I hope I have done a good job of it.  I have certainly tried to.

Letters To A Lost Nation                               A Watergate Chronicle

Those of us who lived Through Watergate will never forget it. It was a gut wrenching period of time in which we saw every day the drama being played out showing us just how important it was to keep America Free and just how fragile Democracy can be.  It was a period of time in which the American Constitution and our entire American System of Government was tested and on the line every day for a matter of years.  While Watergate was playing out in Newspapers, on Television, in Congress and in the Courts, I found myself both fascinated and frightened by the incredible spectacle I was watching take place daily in America.  My own life was rather unstable during the Watergate years and perhaps it was to take my mind off my own troubles that I felt compelled to write about Watergate.

I wrote about Watergate in the form of Letters addressed to America, as if America was a person, who could be communicated with.  I had seen this technique used successfully by Algerian-French Writer, Albert Camus' and I am forever in his Literary Debt.

Most of the letters in this collection were written during the period between 1972 and 1974 on the individual dates listed in the book.  Some of the 1974 letters included in the collection were written more recently because by early 1974 I had tired of what seemed like the unending horrors of Watergate and I was too depressed to write about it anymore, at that point in time.

Many of the older letters were written in reaction to the Senate Watergate Hearings, which laid out the entire Watergate mess on Television complete with Testimony by many of the Major Watergate Figures.  The "Watergate Cast of Characters" and "A Brief History of Watergate," as well as an "Epilog - Watergate Then and Now," which updates the more recent history of some of the Watergate Figures up to the publication of the book were all written in 2009.

I hope that the readers of "Letters To A Lost Nation: A Watergate Chronicle" will include those who lived through the Nightmare of Watergate, as well as younger readers who might learn from the book just how important it is to preserve Freedom and Democracy in America.

The Man On The Grassy Knoll -
The Assassins (Book One) in a Series

The Man On The Grassy Knoll is the First Book in A Series which spans Decades and explores some of the Most Important Political and MoraI Issues of our time including The Kennedy Assassination, The War in Vietnam and other Important American Issues.  Please keep a lookout for future Volumes in the Series.

In "The Man On The Grassy Knoll - The Assassins" I have tried to put a new Fictional Spin on the Nightmare Assassination of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy on November 22nd, 1963 by combining some very Disturbing and Controversial Truths that I have uncovered with some even more Disturbing and Controversial Fiction.

In the end "The Man on The Grassy Knoll - The Assassins" is a Fast Paced and Interesting Novel which presents an Often Told Tale with some New and Frightening Insights gained by what I feel has been Probing Research into the Mountain of Evidence that has been produced and continues to be uncovered about the Kennedy Assassination.

I do not know if the whole truth about the Kennedy Assassination will ever truly be known but this book attempts to highlight some of the evidence which points the Finger of Guilt and Suspicion to some very high places in the American Government.
